The time has come…

Hello my beautiful love buggins!  Yes, that’s right.  The time has come for me to announce this months giveaway.  I have been working diligently on a recipe for a solid perfume that won’t melt in the summer heat. Well I finally perfected it!  I tested this by leaving it in my car during a 98 degree day here in Ga.  And while it did get a bit softer than it was, it wasn’t even close to melting.  YAY!  Can we all say SUCCESS??!!

In case you didn’t notice, I’m a bit stoked about this.  My first few attempts were good but definitely too soft to survive shipping during the summer months.  I am in love with solid perfumes for several reasons.  The main reason being I can put them in my purse and take them anywhere.  They are small and don’t take up much room and they won’t ever leak out of a bottle all over my purse and the contents therein.

I was going to post a picture of it, but my camera has dead batteries.  I guess it’s all the pictures I took yesterday.  So I’ll have to give you a visual tomorrow.  So on to the giveaway info.  This months giveaway is a bar of my summer citrus soap and a solid perfume.

The rules to play the game are the same as always.  Leave a comment on the blog within the next week.  On July 22nd I’ll pick a winner.  If you don’t have a link in your signature for me to get in touch with you, please feel free to email me and let me know you entered.  If you win I’ll email you.  If you have a link in your siggy I’ll post there to let you know.  I’ll also post the winner here.

Good Luck to everyone and let the game begin!  🙂

P.S.  In case nobody told you today, you are a strikingly beautiful and magnificently made creature.  I’m also digging the orange/hot pink aura thing you have goin on tonight.  Groovy!

Summer Citrus on a beautiful day.

Hello my most fabulous friends!  I hope things are wonderful in your part of the world today.  Things here have returned to normal and that’s fantastic.  My mother is recovering slowly but surely.  She’s minding her doctors and has a new neurosurgeon who she adores.

My hours at the shop have calmed down and I’ve had more time to create again.  It feels so very good to be back in the studio and getting lost in art.   I also discovered several projects I had begun before all of this happened that I had forgotten about.  I’m anxious to finish them and post pics.  I’m also working on getting caught up on the J’s so those pics will be posted soon as well.

Last night I decided I wanted to make a new batch of soap.  I’ve had some scents that I’ve wanted to work with for a while now and last night I did.  The result was this summer citrus soap.  I made this with the hot process method in the crock pot.  I absolutely love the way the colors turned out.  It’s a lovely yellow soap with pink embeds.  It has a bright sparkly citrus fruity scent that is heavenly!

It was so much fun making this soap.  I had to laugh this morning when I woke up and couldn’t wait to cut it.  I can’t really explain why I was so happy and excited about this batch, but honestly I felt like I was a kid on Christmas morning.  After I trimmed the bars and made the soap balls I washed my hands.  The lather was amazing.  This was a new recipe and I’m really really happy with it.

And just a heads up, it’s almost time for another giveaway.  WOO HOO!  I love giveaways.  They are so much fun and I always make new friends in the process.

The rest of today is going to be spent creating.  I love you all and I mean that sincerely.  🙂  Now hug your most beautiful self and go out and have a jazzy kinda day!  I’ll see you tomorrow.

Pink Monkey’s and Green Gecko’s

Hello my fellow people lovers!  I hope you’ve had a most delicious and fabulous weekend.  Mine was quite interesting.  I’ve been working on a series of dancing pigs for my website.  None of them are finished yet but they are all in the works.  While I was researching dancing and dancers I ran across so many different images.  I decided to paint a couple of these idea’s as J’s for the St. Jude’s project.  This first picture is the pink monkey J from yesterday.  She doesn’t seem too upset with me that she had to wait for the camera batteries to charge.  I painted her pink just because I love pink and I think it would be cool if we had pink monkeys in the world.  Since we don’t, I just added one to mine.  hehe

J113 Pink Monkey J

I need a name for this little girl.  If you leave a comment with a name and I pick that name I will send you a free solid perfume of your choice.  🙂  Who wants to play?

This second pic is of the green gecko I painted today.  I love him.  I used to include little blue gecko’s in most of my paintings.  I’m not really sure when or why I stopped doing that.  It was fun and often they were very difficult to spot in my larger works.  Perhaps I should begin to include them again.  I named this lil guy Grayson.  I think he’s pretty groovy.

I can’t believe that we’re coming up on the 125 J’s mark already!  It seems like just yesterday I began this project.  I’ve decided that I’m going to do another giveaway to celebrate.  I will be posting the giveaway with J125 so stay tuned!  I’m going to do they same thing I did last time to pick the winner.  All those who leave comments the week after the giveaway announcement will have their name put into a hat.  The winner will be drawn and posted here.  I hope y’all will all participate again.  I had so much fun with the last one and it makes me smile to know that my work goes to live with people who read my blog and follow my art.  Y’all ROCK by the way.  Just sayin.

Tomorrow I will be posting some pics of some of the solid cologne I’ve been working on.  I’m having so much fun making them and the two new mens scents are seriously drool worthy!  NOM!  Have a wonderful night and don’t forget to hug your most magnificent self before sleep.  Thank you for blessing me with your visits and your emails.  I don’t know how I got to lucky to have all of you in my life but I’ll take it!

The love of Delilah and a Rose covered J

Hello gorgeous lovlies!  Well today was a banner day!  I took my car Delilah into the auto repair shop.  Three hours and $225.oo later she was looking as magnificent as ever.  She glistened in the sun and when I turned the key she purred like the lovely black kitten she is.  I love this car.  She and I have a connection.  I take care of her and she carries me to all points north south east and west.  For the last week she has been complaining about this.  You would have to understand Delilah’s temperament to understand this needed my immediate attention.  It turns out that Delilah had a bad bearing and it was putting undue stress on her belts.  She now has a new bearing and brand new belts.  It’s amazing what a new item of clothing or jewelry can do for a girl.  All is well in carland again.  *beams*

I drew while I was waiting for Delilah to be released from the greasy but masterful hands of her mechanics.  Todays J is another girly J.  I had the idea in my head of painting tons of flowers all around a J.  This wasn’t possible with colored pencils and a sketch pad, but I did the best I could do.  I actually like it quite a bit.  Feel free to leave any comments.

J13 Flower Covered J

I also wanted to post a thought here and if any of you would like to start a conversation about this feel free.  I think it’s kind of important for everyone, not just artists.  I read an article on Carol D O’dell’s blog.  http://riskplaycreate.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/risk-and-rejection-the-dark-side-of-art/   She made some really good points about the way we struggle.  But I have to say that I truly believe we can all overcome these fears and feelings when we step into who we really are.  I personally love Carol’s style of writing.  And I totally get that when we don’t find ourselves receiving the reactions that we think we should with our work, that we can feel rejected.  But here’s the thing, is it really their rejection or our fear of that that is the problem?  I honestly believe that we shouldn’t worry about the ones who say no.  They may not be smart enough to say yes.  No matter what other people think, do or say I’m an artist a designer and a soap formulator.  Whether or not other people place value on what I’m doing or not has absolutely no bearing on my truth.  Just my opinion, but that’s how I roll.  Have a great night.  Throw some love out into the universe and smile when it comes back.

J a day and a lighter load

Hello all of you wonderful peeps!

I’m posting a different type of J a day drawing today.  Todays drawing has J’s in the drawing, it’s not a picture of a J.  There are two reasons for this.  First of all, I like to change things up once in awhile.  Secondly, this drawing came from deep inside me and I like it alot.

I told you yesterday that a very good friend had asked me some questions that really made me take a look inside.  It’s kind of amazing to me that I have such varied friends in my life.  I have friends that are silly and playful and friends that are always most serious.  I enjoy my interaction with them all.  They all bring different types of gifts and in turn different types of happiness into my life.  And then I have this other friend.  He and I have been able to be totally and completely gut level honest with each other since we met over six years ago.  He has absolutely no problem asking me the hard questions and demanding I answer myself honestly.  Sometimes this is a painful process because it forces me to face the fallout from my past.  I told him yesterday that I feel like an onion sometimes.  He just keeps peeling back one layer after another and helping me look at what is underneath.  This is the inspiration for this drawing.  I hope that you are lucky enough to find a friend like this along your path.  Because what I am learning is this…..after the pain comes the most beautiful freedom and lightness of being.  Everyday I am finding more courage.  I am looking forward to the other good things I find inside.  Here is todays J a day.

J7 Layers and self discovery.

Now I’m off to make some more soap.  Valentines will be here before you know it!  Have a wonderful day.  Be kind to someone who is being mean today.  It freaks them out and it’s good karma!  *Grins*  Love to you all.

A New Year and New Challenges

Hello all you beautiful people!  🙂  I certainly hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Chanukah, Festivus or whatever holiday you celebrate.  My Christmas was magnificent!  And I do mean simply wonderful and devine.

It wasn’t the presents.  Although, my presents were also wonderful.  It was the other gifts that I received that made it such a wonderful Christmas.  My mother came for a visit and we had a really nice talk.  We seemed to connect on a level that we haven’t been able to in a very long time.  She touched my heart with her kindness and understanding.  That was the best gift I could have received.

I was also simply surrounded by loving people.  I know I’ve been saying this alot lately but it’s absolutely true.  I also received several cards, emails and phone calls from my friends all over the country.  Maddison even received two cards from different animal pals.  How cool is that?!

So I’ve been doing alot of thinking and planning for the new year.  One of my goals this year is to stretch my creative muscles and think more out of the box.  I ran across an article about creating something every day for a year.  I thought that was a great idea!  Then I logged into wordpress to blog about it and I find out they are also doing a blog a day challenge.  It’s called postaday2011.  I was blown away and just laughed.  I mean talk about the Universe trying to tell me something!  LOL

So here is my commitment.  I am going to create a “J” a day.  Yes the letter J.  Why the letter J?  Because it’s the first letter of my name and I’m embracing it.  I am going to create a J today but I won’t be posting it until tomorrow.  I’m waiting on camera batteries to charge.  I will also be blogging about the “J a day” so it’s going to be a pretty groovy combination.  If you are also doing this challenge or would like to create something everyday for a year I would LOVE to hear from you.  I think it’s going to be a major blast!  I also think it’s going to be very challenging which is a good thing.

Here is the link to join the post a day group.  http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/12/30/challenge-for-2011-want-to-blog-more-often/    There is also info on doing a post a week if that is more your speed.  Check it out.  🙂

This year I refrained from making New Years resolutions.  I refuse to set myself up for failure anymore.  So instead I have made a list of goals I want to accomplish this year.  I’m going to list them here and then next year we can review and see how I did.

1.  Create something every day.

2. Postaday2011  (I’ll be using my posts to show what I’ve created as well as new soaps and perfumes.)

3.  Be more proactive with my branding in my business.

4.  Start yoga and get more in touch with my body again.

5.  Make at least twice as much money as I made last year.  (This is also going to be an interesting challenge that I totally feel up too! )

6.  Spend more time with the wonderdog doing interactive things.

7.  Put into action these words….”I take excellent care of my beautiful self!”

I think seven goals is enough for this year.  If I accomplish these things I am going to be one happy happy girl next year at this time.  I hope that I hear from some of you.  I hope that those of you who so desire, will also join the group and I hope that you all have the most awesome year that you have ever had!  I’m here to cheer you on if you let me know you are in.

New Bird Finds Home and Random Information

Hello All of You Beautiful People!

Just a quick post tonight to bring everyone up to speed.  I’m making birds like crazy.  I have several of them that are almost ready for new homes.  They just need hats, ties and other birdy accessories.  🙂

This is a pic of the latest bird.  Her name is Tiffany.  She was listed on Peachbutter last wednesday, and thursday morning I had an email that she had sold.  WOOT!!  I love it when my birds find new homes with loving owners.  Here she is……

I’m also going to be placing a doll I made on Peachbutter tomorrow.  Her name is Hannah.  Hannah is machine sewn, hand stuffed and completed by hand.  Her hair is needle felted to her head.  Her facial features are hand painted on with acrylic paint.  Hannah wears a primitive dress with a little pink holiday glitz.  I mean what girl doesn’t like a little glitz right?  She also comes with her own little rabbit.  Her rabbit is button jointed and can sit or hang.  Hannah is scented with vanilla and cinnamon.  Her rabbit has also been heavily distressed and wears her own little outfit with sparkly pink ear ribbons.  These girls are looking for a forever home for the holidays.  Do you know anyone who would like to adopt them?  If so, please direct them to www.Peachbutter.com.   The wonder dog and myself would most certainly appreciate it!  Here are pics of Hannah and her bunny for you…..

We couldn't have a close up of Hannah without a close up of her bunny.

Now I’m off to make some more bird legs.  It’s so amazing to me, the more I make them the more I love them.  I want to find a nice tree branch to perch them all on for a photograph.  I’ll post pics when I get it done.

That’s all the pics for today.   Be well, be happy and be free.  Remember love is always always the answer.  Thank you for taking the time to visit!  I love you guys so much.

Sleep Study Results and Yummy New Soaps.

Well the sleep study results are in.  I don’t have sleep apnea!  YAY that part!  I do however, have something called Alpha Intrusion Disorder.  I have chronic pain and this condition is caused when someone has chronic pain and it changes their brain waves.  This causes them not to go into a deep REM sleep, which is what I have been experiencing for a few years now.  It’s not fun.  Some nights I wake up 12- 14 times.  I’m always hurting and I always need to move or turn to sleep better.  In my case, I finally get so exhuasted that I will need a night or a weekend day to just sleep for like 12 hours.  I’m beginning to explore some homeopathic paths to pain relief.  I’ve also stopped drinking caffeine after 3:00 in the afternoon.  This seems to be helping a bit.  I’m in love with blueberry herbal tea so that’s what I’ve been drinking at night.   If any of you want to leave comments about your sleeping disorders, please feel free to do so.  Just find all the tiny writing at the bottom of the posts and click on leave a comment.  We are all in this together.  🙂

Okay!  On to more fun topics.  I cut two logs of soap yesterday.  The first one is a cucumber scent and it is so clean smelling.  I also played around a bit with the coloring.  It was fun!   So here are the cut bars.

Handmade Cucumber Luxury Soap

Handmade Cucumber Luxury Soap. Yummmm!

The second log I cut was the grapefruit/orange soap.  OMG y’all I am in LOVE with this soap.  I used a grapefruit/orange essential oil blend on this one.  It smells just like juicy ripe grapefruits and oranges.  It’s also a vegan bar.  I was kind of surprised at how long the recipe took to trace, but it was worth the effort.  I colored half the batch a light pink grapefruit color and added just a touch of yellow to the other half then mixed them.  I love the soft understated way the colors came out!  I hope y’all like these too.

Tonight I’m going to work on completing a couple of birds.  I’ve got some cute ideas for bird hats and such so I’m going to try and get that done.   I’m working on getting myself organized.  Sometimes I feel like I’m running as fast as I can on the wheel and getting nowhere.  LOL   I hope you all have a day filled with peace, happiness, tons of smiles and more love than you can hold!
