Dusting yourself off.

I look at my blog and I can’t believe it’s been over two years since I posted.  TWO YEARS??  Seriously?  I’m just amazed.  I knew that there had been many changes and many many challenges this past two years but I really didn’t realize how fast time has gone by.  I’m so sorry that I was gone for so long.

Right now I am just dusting off this blog and myself.  🙂   There have been so many changes since I last wrote, that it’s going to take a bit for me to get caught up!  I just wanted to send out a wave and huge love and smiles.  I’ll be posting regularly again very soon.

I feel like I’ve been away on this huge adventure and I’ve just arrived back home!  There has been a lot of adventure.  One of them includes that I moved from the old apt. into a loft apt. about a year ago.  I absolutely LOVE it here.  My neighbors are all very cool and they all love Maddison.  She is doing so much better here that it’s kind of blown my mind.  I guess the fact that I’m not nervous all the time helps AND she’s got a small puppy park at the end of our street to play in.  😀

Well that’s all for tonight my sweet peeps.  I’m looking forward to getting back in the saddle with the blogging again.  We are going to have some fun!  Love and peace to you all.  -Jacqueline

Puppy kisses and a J a day for postaday2011

Hello all of you gorgeous individuals!  It’s so good to see you again.  Today was one of those days where you have big plans and none of them seem to work out.  Then, you turn around and something really cool happens and you forget the little frustrations from earlier in the day.

This morning I left my house with a full “Ta Da” list to complete.  This list included the bank, post office, pharmacy, office supply store and auto shop.  I get to the bank and I realize they aren’t open because it’s MLK day.  I’m halfway to the post office when it dawns on me that they aren’t going to be open either.  This puts the trip to the pharmacy out of the picture because I can’t go buy meds with no money.  I stop by the office supply store and they don’t have what I ordered because UPS didn’t run all last week because of the ice storm.  Fine, I’ll go to the auto shop.  The guy that works on transmissions isn’t there today.  Lovely.  I find out that one of my friends future mother in law is in the hospital.   So basically I spent the day running around and getting absolutely nothing accomplished.

I got home and checked email and then worked on my art.  I’m happy to say that I finally finished the altered art canvas that had tested my patience with her insistance on wrinkling.  I’ll take a picture and post it before I send her on her way to the recipient.

I took Maddison the wonder dog out for a walk and when we came back inside she started whining.  I gave her a cookie and she just dropped it on the floor and looked at me.  I asked, as any good puppy mommy would “What?”  She jumped up on me and pushed me backwards.  I laughed at her and sat on the sofa.  She began to shower me with puppy kisses.  I am constantly amazed at how our animal can read us.  This dog knows my moods and she is such a nurturer.  I love her so very much.  I was telling her that she is the sunshine in my days and the rainbow too!  And voila’ there was the inspiration for todays J.  Now I’ve got 1o or more ideas for rainbows.  God help me!  LOL  So here is todays J for the day.  Have a good night and give somebody you love a hug.  More tomorrow.

J10 Rainbow J a day

J a day postaday2011 and frustration.

Hello Beautiful People!

Today has been a frustrating day for me artistically.  I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted to do with a poem and it didn’t turn out like I wanted.  So I had to strip if off my canvas and now I have to start over.  *Insert big dramatic sigh*

Stripped down canvas.

I am working on a piece for a friend of mine.  She shall remain nameless because she doesn’t know she’s getting this yet.  I wrote this poem for her over a year ago.  I was going to alter it and send it to her.  Only problem is, something inside wasn’t settled with this project.  I had this little nagging voice inside that kept saying, “Don’t send it yet.  You’re not done.”  I listened to this voice.  I’m actually getting much better at listening to my inner promptings and my life is improving greatly because of that.

Anyway, I ended up making her a little spirit doll to go with this poem.  I plan to attach her to the canvas with a hanging ribbon or decorative thread.  I have a new Epson Artisan 50 printer with waterproof inks.  I LOVE it.  I printed the poem out, tore the edges, inked them and adhered them to the canvas.  I come back 30 minutes later to a huge mess.  Not only do I have air bubbles but my inks are running!  WTH???  See the little butterflies?  They are just printed out too.  No ink running there.  So I was a bit baffled until I realized the difference.  I printed the butterflies out and sealed one side.  I let that side dry and then sealed the other side.  THEN I put them on the canvas.  Today I tried to do everything one right after the other with no drying time.  FAIL!!  So now I have to start over.  I can totally do it, but it’s just frustrating because I wanted to finish it up.  After a year of waiting for it to tell me what it wants to be and now I’m anxious to be done.  LOL

The upside is I made a zen tangle for my J a day project.  I kinda like the way it turned out.  It was surprisingly calming when I was working on it too.  I had forgotten how much fun zen tangles can be.  I sort of get lost in them and just relax and let whatever comes happen.  So here is todays J.

Day 4 J 4 zen tangle

I’m already having so much fun with this challenge and it’s making me think of different mediums and different angles.  Who knew trying to come up with a simple letter J could make a person think so much!  LOL  I did this one with colored pencils in one of my smaller sketchbooks.  I was thinking today about actually keeping all of these just to have the full collection in tact at the end of the 365 days.  I think it will be fun to look back on it and be reminded of what was going on those days.

We are still completely iced in here in Atlanta.  It’s 17 degrees right now.  Tomorrow it’s only going up to 31 and then back down to 14 tomorrow night.  They say we should be thawing out by Saturday.  I’m looking forward to it.  I’ve already got cabin fever.

Be well all.  Love each other and remember how precious and short life really is.  🙂

The Journey of the J’s or A J a day 2011

Well it’s been an interesting couple of days here.  I’m in Atlanta and we just had a huge snow/ice storm blow through.  We’ve got about six inches of ice and snow on the ground.  I wanted to make this post long and detailed but the wind is blowing so hard that it’s flowing in the window next to my computer.  So this post is going to be short and sweet.  I will post tomorrow when the sun is up and hopefully be longer.  LOL   So without further adieu here are my J’s for the last three days.

First J

Second J

Third J

The first two are colored pencil.  The last one is done with watercolor pencils and then washed with angled brush.  I’m not happy with my fern but I do like my lil bunny.  🙂   Anyway, I’ve done my J’s for three days in a row.  Now I have to figure out what I’m going to do tomorrow.  Have a great night all!

Rainy Saturday and Altered Art

Hi Y’all,

It’s been a rainy saturday here in Ga. today.  Kind of a nice day for reflection and thought.  Today I’ve been cleaning and getting some supplies in order.  Sometimes I look around at all of my art supplies and fabric and I wonder how one person can collect so much.  Then I look at some of my friends collections and I feel better!  LOL

Yesterday I finished a canvas for an art challenge.  I’m really happy with the way it turned out.  I call it “Fly”.  I wanted to do something that was monotone in whites, but as I worked this came out instead.  It’s still really muted tones and I think it’s peaceful looking.  I had such a good time making it.  I love it when I’m working on a piece and I get into that peaceful zone.  It’s so therapeutic.  Anyway, here it is.  Love to hear any and all comments.  Have a great weekend!

Your wings exist. All you have to do is fly!

The following are just close ups obviously.  🙂  I hope you enjoy them.

My computer is acting up so I’m amazed I was able to get these pics uploaded.  I’m taking it to the shop monday so I may be offline for a bit.  I’m not sure what is wrong so I won’t know until they take a look.  In the meantime I’m making more soap and art.  As soon as I get back online I’ll be posting some new soaps as well as art and birds for sale on Peachbutter.  I’m also going to be having another soap giveaway so keep checking back!  Thank you all for your continued support and interest in my work.  You keep me humble, honest and sane.  Have a great weekend!

Winter birds and sleepy dog

Hi Guys,

Well it’s been another busy week for me.  I’ve been working on some more birds, restocking the soap shelves and trying to catch the wonder dog sleeping.  She is such a light sleeper that I have yet to catch her just totally out cold.  LOL  Still working on it though!

Here are some of the birds that I just finished.  I will be listing them on my site tomrrow.  I’ve got several others almost finished.  It seems like these days that the more I make them, the more I love them.  They make me smile and giggle.  I think that’s a good thing.

Just friends ready for tea.

Meet Edith and Charlotte.  Just two pretty girls ready for tea.  I named these girls after my mom and my Aunt Charlotte.  The love to get together when they can too!  🙂

Two fabric birds fancy friends.

Fancy Friends

And this is Nina and Cricket.  They are best friends.  They are all dressed up and ready to go out on the town.  I have a suspicion that Nina is on the prowl for a cowboy.  Cricket agrees.  heh

And just because she’s so stinkin cute to me, a couple of pics of the wonder dog.  She gets so put out when I wake her with my camera.  LOL

Oops. I woke up the sleeping princess.

The wonder dog is put out.

She just doesn’t understand how cute I think she is when she’s sleeping!  I just wish I could get ONE pic of her while she was out cold.  But NOPE, she is a light sleeper and she always hears me.

Maddison ignoring her momma.

She is a sleepy puppy.

After giving me the stink eye she moved over and put her head on the pillow.  As if to say, “I am ignoring you, now go away so I can sleep”   LOL  I love her so much!

I think 2010 is going to be an amazing year.  My mind seems to be moving constantly in creative directions.  I’m trying to find the balance with my time between soapmaking and my dolls/birds/art.  I feel like I’ve got a pretty good system working right now.  I should have new soaps ready soon as well.  Have a great day and thank you again for all of your kind words and emails.  Y’all keep me going!  Peace and Love and Peachbutter!!

Merry Christmas!!

Just a short blog today to say Merry Christmas to you all!  🙂  The wonder dog and I would like to thank you all for making this a magnificent Christmas!!!  We sold out of soap.  We also sold several birds and some art!  We wouldn’t be able to make it without all of you.  Whether you have bought from us, told friends about us or simply emailed with encouraging words.  We love each and every single one of you!  ((((((((HUGS)))))))  May 2010 be the most incredible year to date for everyone.  Peace and blessing upon you!   Sending love and hugs and dreams your way!  – Jacqueline and Maddison the wonder dog.

My house smells like a yummy man!

Hi All of You Beautiful People!

I just finished a new batch of Southfork for men soap!  It is divine and yummy!  Every single time I make this soap and just take long deep happy breaths.  There is just something about this scent.  It’s warm and deep with musk undertones.  I have given out tons of samples of this soap and everybody LOVES it.  Men like the way it smells and the women LOVE it for their men.  I think I will love this scent forever and a day!  LOL  This batch is cooling in the mold right now.  I’ll post pics tomorrow.

If any of you want to win a free bar, leave a comment.  I’ll pick a winner this friday.  🙂   I’m also planning to add a free recipe for some homemade Peachbutter to my site soon so keep on the lookout for that.  Peace to you all.  See you tomorrow.
