Here is the progression of Izzy. I started this painting out with greyscale. I can’t begin to tell you why. I almost never paint this way.
Maddison watched the squirrels and the birds as it rained.
I love painting. I especially love it when I get lost in the process. I did today. I like the blue background so far. At this point I was still undecided as to what color I was going to make Izzy.
After considering several different options, I settled on lavender. I’m glad I did now, although at first I was questioning my choice. Sometimes, I make decisions and I’m sure about them. When this happens I just keep going and hope I like it in the end.
Once I settled on the lavender, I knew that I had to have some green somewhere. At first I added green to the eyes. I loved it, but it wasn’t enough for me so I made his wings green. Hey! Who says a cat angel can’t have green wings? LOL
It’s looking better but it still needs some more shading and deepening of color.
Now that’s better! More color and some additional outlining with the black. Every single color in this painting has some black in it. I love the way it made the colors work together so seamlessly.
Now look Izzy in the eye and tell him he aint cute! LOL Thanks for having a look. I really enjoyed sharing this.
Izzy went to live in Arizona with an english professor. Lucky cat!
Izzy has a prominent place on the wall and seems to be thriving, looking over my shoulder as I work at my desk. All I can say is, I am a very lucky professor to have such a good talisman,, and even luckier to have such a good friend in the artist who envisioned Izzy.
Hi,
I’m the customer that recently bought your Beach Cottage Sign. I decided to check out your site and was suprised to run across this little similarity we happen to share.
You painted a picture of Izzy the cat and I happen to have a little black and white kitty named Izzy B. She’s so cute and I love her to pieces.
Just thought I’d share this interesting fact with you.
Blessings~
Linda
Hi Linda,
How great to see you on my blog! I bet your Izzy B. is precious. I love cats too. Unfortunately I’m allergic so I have to live vicariously through my friends and paintings. I’m so glad you came to visit and shared with me. Have a great week and I’ll see you soon.
