Oh Goodie, The Flu

Hi Y’all,

Well I haven’t posted anything in the past few days because I’ve been in bed sick with the flu.   I am much better now though.  God, it’s a nasty lil bug.   I’ll be painting some this week and hopefully have some pics to post by sunday.  I’m off to bed for the night.  :)

More words and tennis balls

Hi again,

Well they didn’t let me down over at the southern sass group.  LOL  This is the list added to the list.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Hand, Jive, Rhythm, Blues, Jazz, Gimmick, Era and Final.   Man have I got some painting to get done!  :)

Mistress of the BallI just HAD to post a couple of pics of Maddison today.  She got some new tennis balls and she is in puppy heaven.  I tried to snap a pic of her giving me high five.  It’s kinda cattywompus because I was holding the camera AND high fiving.  LOL

High Five 2I love this dog more everyday.  :)   Peace and Blessings to you all!

Word games and inspirations.

Hi Y’all,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days.  I’ve taken a part time job and it’s been a bit of an adjustment this week.  I’m really happy with the job.  It’s doing floral design, the same thing I was doing before but I’m working way less hours and for MUCH nicer people.  :)

The main reason I am happy about this job is because it’s taking the stress of having to create for money away.  I can now pay my bills but still have the time to paint and create.  It’s amazing what can happen with your art when you are just creating for the love of it.

I belong to a wonderful group on Ebay called The Southern Ladies of Ebay.  We are playing a silly word game right now with four letter words.  Someone picks a word and then the next person has to pick another word beginning with the last letter of the last word.  Example…. Kiss-Soup…..and so forth.

This got me to thinking that it might be fun if I asked them for some words to use as a base for some paintings.  So I asked.  LOL  Man did they give me some good ones!  Here is the list;

Water, Light, Shadow, Sand, Glass, Reflection, Whimsical, Pink, Time, Creek, Sail, Rose and Spring.

There may be a few more ladies adding some more and I will add those if they do.  I will stop at 20 words because I think 20 paintings is a lot!  LOL

God has blessed me with such loving and supportive friends.  He has also blessed me with the art of some other artists who I’ve yet to meet but really admire their work.  Life is good and I believe it’s only getting better!  Thank you for coming to visit and come back soon.  I’ll be posting some pics over the next couple of days.

Tornadoes and More Tornadoes

I’m sure a lot of you already know, but a big tornado touched down in Atlanta last night.  The damage is unbelievable.  So far there are two dead.  It’s a miracle there weren’t more.

Today we had more tornadoes.  I actually watched one forming over my apt.  I was standing outside in total awe….suddenly the wind was blowing so hard I had a hard time walking in it.  THAT was scarey.  It dumped huge hail in the parking lot.  That was also scarey.  It moved very quickly and by the time it hit Atlanta today the hail was the size of baseballs and it was about five miles wide.  The pictures of it on tv were stunning.  We had more storms afterwards, but no more tornadoes.  Thank God.

I haven’t done any painting today but I am just about to go and do that.  I need some time to settle down inside.  It’s been a crazy and upsetting day.  I’ll post more tomorrow.  Much love to you all.

It’s been a great rainy day!

Hi Y’all,

Well it’s rained allllllll day today.  One of those weird days where the sun is out but it’s raining anyway.  Go figure.  LOL   I did manage to snap some pics today.  Yay me.. hehe.

izzy2.jpg  Meet Izzy.  Izzy is a cat angel.  I sat down to paint fish today but Izzy would not wait.  Some of you have emailed and asked me to post some pics of my work in progress.  If you click on ”Cat Angel” under In The Works on the sidebar you can see Izzy as he came into being.  He’s going up on Ebay tonight.  This painting was different for me because I never work from grayscale into color.  I don’t really know why I did today.  It just sort of happened that way.  Izzy is painted on a canvas panel with acrylics.  He’s been sealed with a high gloss sealer.  I hope you like him.  :)

beautiful little black baby with chicken and watermelon This is the sweet girl I told you about yesterday.  I just love her lil face.  She has her own slice of watermelon and her own pet chicken.  I hid that chicken from Maddison because she stole it once and took off with it.  LOL  Then I had to look for it for two days because I forgot where I put it.  *snickers*  Maddison isn’t allowed in my sewing area, but when I bring things out to paint it’s game on.  She will steal anything she can get away with.   I might make a page for my canine fabuloso when I get some spare time.

Oh I forgot to mention…..Joyce mailed me a box of goodies yesterday!  It was filled with tons of material and trim, sticks and other various goodies.  I can’t wait to start using some of it!  Thank you Joyce!  You rock my split apart.  :)

Sunshine and Praise

Hi Y’all, sorry it’s been a couple of days since I posted.  I’ve been mad crazy busy making dolls and dealing with life issues.  I finished an adorable little prim black doll today.  I was going to snap a final pic of her but didn’t get to it before dark.  My camera’s flash is way strong so I always use natural light.  I’ll post her pic here tomorrow.  She is going up on ebay tomorrow too.

Praise angelI did manage to get a pic of this sweet angel.  I painted her after I got home from running errands today.  She is painted on a 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 inch block of wood.  It’s over an inch thick.  I LOVE painting on wood.  I was going to seal her with beeswax, but then I decided to collage the word “Praise” on her so now I think I will seal her with a matt sealer.  I painted her sides black so she can hang with no need for framing or a shaddow box.  I’m happy with her.  I love the warmth.

I’m making some dolls to send to WV.  There is the most amazing little shop there and the owner is interested in looking at some of my dolls.  I hope he likes some of them enough to let them live in his shop.  I’m crossing my fingers.  :)   I was thinking I would take a pic of them in a group and post it here when finished.

The mountain cabin painting has a bid on it.  I started it out at 99 cents for fun.  I love to do that sometimes.  It’s fun to watch and see if it gets any bids or one bid etc.  A couple of times people have even won a piece of my art for 99 cents.  I think it’s kinda cool even though it’s not profitable.  LOL  But it’s almost like they were supposed to have that piece ya know?

I’m trying to figure out how to put You Tube vids on here.  As soon as I do, I want to add a couple.  I love music and I love art and it is so cool when those two come together.  Well I’m off to do some more painting.  I’m trying to follow my Ta Da list and keep myself on track.  I think it’s working! :)

Beeswax, Angels and Splenda.

Well today has been a fabulous monday!  I woke up early and got started with my day.  Mailed some packages to my winning bidders over at Ebay, went to two stores to pick up supplies and then came home and finished up a few projects and listed on Ebay.

My Mountain Cabin   This is one of the paintings I added to Ebay today.  It’s painted on a piece of solid poplar wood and sealed with beeswax.  I absolutely love working with the beeswax.  It gives the paintings such a delightful texture and it just warms the piece up.  I had a long piece of the poplar wood that I was using in a closet at another apt.  When I moved, I took it with me since I bought it.  I had them cut it into squares at the home improvement store and I’ve painted four paintings so far on the pieces.  The first three sold on the first shot so that made me happy.  I love recycling things to paint on.  This week while I was moving some things around I found an old metal roof tin that I bought in North Ga. ages ago.  I think I will paint something on it this week.

Extreme grungy primitive angel dollThis little lovely is an extreme primitive angel that I listed on Ebay today.  I am in LOVE with her.  My gf Joyce says she is just “Fuggetabout it” ugly.  LOL  I think she will find a loving home.  I made her using coffee stained onasburg…but then when I had her sewn she wasn’t grungy enough for me so I painted her brown too.  I sanded her and rubbed her with cinnamon.  She’s got muslin wings that I hand quilted and put through the prim process.  She’s got two mismatched antique buttons for eyes.  Her nose is pinched and stitched.  Her mouth is an old piece of tea stained cotton crochet and her hair is made of sticks.  She is wearing a homemade cinnamon ornament necklace strung on twine.  She is MOST primitively lovely.  :)

While I was working today I got hungry for some cinnamon toast.  Yes, I think the angel flung a craving on me.  LOL  I am trying desperately to get back on my food plan 100%.  So that means no sugar in the house.  So I tried it with splenda.  Let me just tell y’all…. splenda is great in my tea and over over cereal and such….but for cinnamon toast?  Not so much.  The flavor was okay but you could definately tell the difference.  And for me personally, I missed the sugar texture.  Oh well….on to more experiments.   Tomorrow is another day indeed!  :)

Funky Folk Art Beta FishP.S.  My favorite lil fishy found a home!  He’s swimming to Canada to live with Brenda!

What a great day!

Black Crow Red Night   I woke up so happy this morning.  Four of my items have bids on them on Ebay.  YAY!  My friends all laugh at me when bids come in.  I get excited like a little kid.  I guess part of it is the fact that I’m depending on that income to live, but mostly it is because for any artist, your work is such a personal thing.  Everytime you create something and put it out there, it’s like you are putting part of you out there.  This week I painted a really cool red box with a black crow on it.  I was so surprised at how fast I got this done.  It was like I was in “the zone”.  LOL  Anyway, I thought I would post a pic here.  I’m going to list it on Ebay later today. I added Joel Osteens link to my blogroll.  I just love his ministry and find him to be very very uplifting.  Yesterday I watched him and he was talking about all of us needing to find out where our giftings are and work on those.  I feel like I am doing that, and for the first time in a long time, I am trusting God totally and completely.  I know this blog is about my art and about my journey making a living with my art, but I would have nothing without God in my life.  Check Joel out if you like.  He’ll make you smile!

I’ve decided I’m going to email some of the artists who inspire me so much and see if they mind me adding them to my blogroll.  I hope they don’t.  They are some of the most amazing artists I’ve seen.  Everything from dollmaking and painting to jewelry.

I’ve been looking for some old hymnals or old sheet music to use in some of my art.  So far no luck, but I have faith I will find just what I am looking for.  I also made some cinnamon ornaments yesterday for my prim dollies.  Oh my goodness do they smell WONDERFUL! This was my girlfriend Joyce’s idea.  Thank you Joyce!  I love it!

Confessions of a Late Blooming Blogger.

me1.jpgHi everyone, my name is Jacqueline DeWylde and I have decided to begin a blog.  I mainly want to let you get to know me and hopefully get to know some of you and make some friends along the way.  I want you to feel welcome here.  I’ll be posting pictures of my work here.  I am an artist, a floral designer and a lifelong learner.  I tend to wander from one thing to another so I have multiple projects going at one time.  *note to self*  FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS!  I am also looking at opening an etsy shop.  I’ve just recently been introduced to this venue.  It’s the most wonderful site with the most exquisite goodies and they are all handmade!   This is my first post.  I am going to try very hard to keep up with things.  Come back and visit often……it will lend substance to me running my net mouth.  LOL  Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day.
